MATCH PREVIEW

It is the 1st Test Match in the 5-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where Australia will take on their toughest competitor India at Perth. The Australians have much to prove in this series, as the Indians are the only team that has won back-to-back series on their soil since the dawn of the millennium. The hosts have a good record at home and shall start the game with higher odds. The Indians come here with an unexperienced series loss against New Zealand at home and will be under pressure. The careers of some of their top players are on the firing line, and they need to play hard cricket. Both teams have high stakes in this game, and we expect a close contest.

Australia Preview

Pat Cummins and his players will face the ultimate test in this series. They have lost the Test Series against India at home twice in the last five years and aim to make a strong start. The side has enjoyed a good record at home in the last three years, losing only once in the last ten games. They will start favorites on cricket betting sites and look to use the home conditions to their advantage.

The team will need a good start from Usman Khawaja and Steven Smith. Smith has an excellent record against India. The middle order is formidable, and they will expect runs from Marnus Labuschagne, Travis Head, and Mitchell Marsh. Alex Carey has done well in the lower middle order and must add runs with Josh Inglis and Pat Cummins.

The Australians have a strong pace attack, and they would like early wickets in this game from Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood. Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon will use their experience to trouble the Indian batting lineup that is low on confidence. Marsh, Head, and Labuschagne add bowling options for the team.

Expected Starting XI for Australia

Pat Cummins (c), Steven Smith, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey (wk), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis

India Preview

Jasprit Bumrah will lead the Indian team in this game as skipper Rohit Sharma is out on paternity leave. The team will have to come out of the series loss against New Zealand at home, which some termed as the lowest point for the Test side in decades. Injury to Shubman Gill has complicated things further in the middle order. They are behind on cricket betting apps, and Bumrah must get the best out of his players as the Australians will come hard on them.

KL Rahul is back as the opener, and the onus will be on him to deliver a good start with Yashasvi Jaiswal, as the Australian bowlers will test them. Devdutt Padikkal will play at No. 3 and must build partnerships with Virat Kohli and Rishab Pant. The side will expect a good show in the lower middle order from Nitish Reddy, Dhruv Jurel, and Ravichandran Ashwin.

The bowling attack will have a lot of expectations on their shoulders. Jasprit Bumrah must lead from the front and get early wickets with Mohammad Siraj. Akash Deep must do well as the first change and keep up the pressure on the batsmen, along with Ravichandran Ashwin. Nitish Reddy will look to do well in the supporting role.

Expected Starting XI for India

Jasprit Bumrah (c), KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (wk), Nitish Reddy, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammad Siraj, Akash Deep, Dhruv Jurel

TOSS: To Bowl First

The track will initially assist the bowlers, being the fastest track in the world. We expect the batting conditions to improve from Day 2 onward. The side that wins the toss would look to use the conditions to its advantage by bowling first.

PITCH AND WEATHER CONDITIONS

We expect clear overcast skies over Perth. The wicket will be lively, where the ball will move and bounce. Batsmen must be watchful against the fast bowlers. Spinners will not have much on this surface going for them, and the side batting first needs 400 runs on the board to feel confident.

OUR PREDICTION

The Indians have several problems in the bucket leading to this game. They have an unsettled top and middle order, and the key batsmen haven't done well in the last few games. The bowling attack must do well to put the team in a strong position. The Australian team has enjoyed an excellent record at home in the last two years and has the best fast-bowling attack. On a lively track, the Australians have an advantage.

Our prediction is for Australia to win
